In a prior position, a need emerged within the team for a streamlined website to distribute PDFs to clients. Recognizing that similar needs existed across the organization, and with the marketing department unable to fulfill every request, a decision was made to offer microsites (5 pages or less) as a service to internal training and implementation stakeholders. These microsites were considered sideline projects, necessitating a focus on rapid turnaround times and a limited feature set.
This initiative demonstrates my skills and experience in
- Identifying internal needs and developing solutions
- Selecting appropriate technologies based on specific requirements
- Developing and deploying web-based resources
- Ensuring efficient content delivery
The technology selection process was a critical aspect of this initiative. I developed a small list of requirements that included
- Self-hosting, to maintain control over content
- Simplicity, using basic HTML and CSS to mitigate security risks associated with content management systems like WordPress
- A large selection of well-designed templates
- A one-time purchase model to minimize upfront investment, given the uncertain popularity of the new service
After reviewing about 25 products, I selected MobiRise as the platform, and could not be happier with the results shown below.
